Hallihallo,

der Vampir- und überhaupt Horrorboom treibt immer neue Blüten. Heute stand ich (mal wieder) in der SF-Buchhandlung vor dem Regal mit den Neuerscheinungen und stieß auf nicht weniger als 4 Titel, in denen bekannte britische Romane aus dem 19. Jahrhundert mit Vampiren, Zombies oder sonstigen Monstern versehen wurden.
Das erste habe ich im Sommer gelesen, fand es (im Gegensatz zu Bumbelbee) auch recht amüsant, aber nicht so toll, dass ich mehr der Art lesen möchte.
Im einzelnen waren es:

Jane Austen/Seth Grahame-Smith - Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (Jane Austen - Stolz und Vorurteil)

Adam Roberts - I Am Scrooge. A Zombie Story for Christmas (Charles Dickens - Eine Weihnachtsgeschichte)

Amanda Grange - Mr Darcy, Vampyre (nochmal Jane Austens Stolz und Vorurteil)

Ich hab's mir bei amazon mal durchgelesen und bin am überlegen, ob ich es mir vielleicht holen soll. Aber bis dahin ist ja noch Zeit. Vielleicht hat sich meine Meinung bis dahin auch geändert

Klingt für mich zum Teil eher bescheuert... zumindest Mr. Darcy als Vampir... na ja ich glaube solche Bücher brauche ich nicht...

Einige davon hatte ich auch schon gesehen. Vor allem das erstere (Stolz und Vorurteil mit Zombies) ist ja recht erfolgreich in den USA. Aber ich will das nicht lesen. Ich mag meine Austen so wie sie ist. Altmodisch und unhorrormäßig.

Ich verstehe nicht ganz wie man von Jane Austen auf Vampire kommen kann und die Idee so gut findetm dass man darüber schreiben möchte. Das interessiert mich im Moment mehr als die Bücher selbst

Ich habe mir die Verbindung Austen-Vampir so zusammengereimt, zumindest was "Mr. Darcy, Vampyre" angeht:
Viele Leserinnen finden Mr Darcy wahnsinnig attraktiv und männliche Vampire sind ja heutzutage die unglaublichsten Sexbomben. (Ich kann beides nicht so recht nachvollziehen, aber...) Nun ja, wenn man nun beides miteinander verbindet, erreicht man einen neuen Höhepunkt männlicher Attraktivität, hat sich wohl jemand gedacht; also wird Mr Darcy selbst zum Vampir gemacht, in der Hoffnung, dass Jung-Eddie gegen diesen Gentleman bis in die FingEckzahnspitzen verblasst.

Was allerdings nicht erklärt, wieso Jane Austen selbst zur Vampirin wird.

Hm vielleicht hat man sich bei Jane Austen ja erhofft die männliche Leserschaft auf diese Frau überhaupt aufmerksam zu machen? So als wandelnder Bluttrinkende erotischer Vamp??

Winnetou + Werwölfe! Aber immerhin scheint er selbst keiner zu sein. Wenigstens etwas. Aber vielleicht taucht Old Shatterhand ja als Vampir auf. Ich bin ja beinahe versucht, mir das Buch zu bestellen.

Heidis Klappentext klingt aber auch nicht schlecht :
